There's a Ferrari 296 GTS at The Shmuseum, so let's reveal the FULL SPEC of the upcoming Shmeemobile! You'll be surprised by my curveball choice for this, and quite how soon it's going to be arriving... Join me for a first 296 drive in the UK, and why I'm so excited for this Ferrari!

Having announced a year ago that the Ferrari 296 GTS is joining my collection, I've been tight-lipped on my spec and further details. Well, fast forward, and my car is now built and at the end of the production line in Maranello, which means it's time to go through the details and share it all! For the purpose, we are joined by a Blu Corsa demo GTS from HROwen Ferrari, my supplying dealer.

Coincidentally, while I've previously received the pictures of the body panels before and after paint, it's while I'm out driving the 296 GTS for the first time in the UK, that I receive the picture of the completed car ready for final sign-off and ultimately transport to my dealer. In terms of the drive; it's not my first time in a 296 of either form, but it is on home turf which means a more familiar road experience and terrain to compare what it's like. It has to be said that Ferrari hit a home run with this car, it's simply fantastic.

Given Ferrari's history, and in fact back in the 1960s introducing the 6-cylinder Dino as a more 'entry level' model, my choice is to pay tribute to that with the exterior colour in Rosso Dino. For this I've opted to keep it single colour without the contrast roof, and added both the Scuderia Shields and yellow calipers sitting behind the Aluminium matt Grigio Corsa wheels, along with the full suite of exterior carbon fibre upgrades.

On the inside I've created an unusual two-tone configuration with Charcoal for the upper surfaces and Grigio Scuro for the seats and lower dashboard. These are finished off with a matching Arancio orange stitch including the embroidered headrests, and on the steering wheel which features the Carbon Fibre LED driving zone.

There's no question it's a bit different to my regular Ferrari choices, which to date have always been blue of different sorts, but this time around we're going for my first ever red Ferrari.
