Let's break it down! We're 10,000 miles into the tour in the United States with my AMG GT Black Series, so how does it compare to the budget I set out when we began!? It was never going to be a cheap undertaking, but there's both good news, and bad news...

Having shipped out the car for the first part of the tour in October, it landed with 5,500 miles on the clock having already driven around Europe and even in the Middle-East. First forward through part one that took it all the way from New York across to Utah, part two that kept us on the West Coast, and part three that's now brought the GT BS all the way over to Miami, and we have added a very healthy 10,000 miles to that count. Could mine be the highest mileage customer one of these in the world!?

However, at the start of the drive, on the first driving leg from New Jersey across Long Island and up to the State of Rhode Island, I talked about what I expected this tour to cost me. We dived into the reasons for bringing my car versus getting a rental, an overview of the expenses it would incur for tyres, servicing, fuel/gas, and of course the main costs of travel - flights and hotels being a marked increase on previous years both due to demand and currency fluctuations.

The original plan was a two-part, 60-day tour, heading West and then heading East, with a total budget mentioned of $57,000. Needless to say, with so much coming up, it's already been 73 nights, and it will be a further 20. The bad news, obviously the budget has been stretched as a result, but how much? Let's run through what's been less expensive than expected, and what's been more.

It's also an opportunity to meet up with Goldvart to finally reveal something that was in the works almost 2 years ago! After the original issues with my first Ford GT exhaust when the car was in the US in 2019, I changed the exhaust and left the first faulty one out there for a bespoke artwork commission, and now we can show the full results!
