The Ford GT MkII demonstrates how to run rings around supercars! Thanks to @yonly65, I'm experiencing some hot laps in the track special derivative of the new Ford GT at Hypercar Invitational, quickly showing just how much difference there is from road car to race car!
Hypercar Invitational has brought some exceptional cars out to Laguna Seca for a weekend of driving, from road going hypercars like the Zenvo TSR-S and Koenigsegg Agera RS, to the ultimate track toys including the McLaren Senna GTR and Lamborghini Essenzia SC V12, and of course also this rather incredible Ford GT MkII.
The Ford GT MkII is the product of Ford and Multimatic's learnings from the GT LM racecar that competed at Le Mans amongst others, without the restrictions enforced for the road going variant. The 3.5l ecoBoost V6 is unleashed to 700hp with the car featuring plenty more aero on the bodywork and generally set up for the race track. Only 45 customers cars were made in total, offering an epic experience out on the circuit, exactly like this.
Taking off in a group with a mixed set of cars; including road supercars amongst some race cars, we're alongside the likes of the McLaren Sennas, 765LTs, Ferrari Pista, Porsches and plenty more. The differences between the two cars are fascinating, from the 765LTs pulling away on straights, to the immense braking advantage of the GT MkII on slicks and its ability to whip around any corner at light speed.
I cannot thank @yonly65 enough for this opportunity, during the sessions where he was kindly taking passengers out for charity rides to support Make-A-Wish Greater Bay Area.
