If you only know Willy T. Ribbs by his résumé, then you don’t know Willy T. Some know him as the first African-American to qualify for the Indianapolis 500, others might cite him as a legend of Trans-Am racing, or more recently he might be recognized as the focus of the documentary “Uppity.” What we like to know him for, however, is as one of our favorite storytellers when it comes to tales of, err, his not-shy exploits. There will never be another Willy T., but now there’s a cartoon of him.
