Long before the first one even left the factory, all 991 produced were sold out. The reason? The R combines the 4.0L, 500hp engine from the 911 GT3 RS with a six-speed manual transmission. It uses the “regular” GT3’s medium-width 911 body, but with the RS’s magnesium roof. It comes with houndstooth cloth bucket seats, no sound deadening, and no air-conditioning or radio. This is the purest 911 of them all—and Porsche buyers love purity.
