It only just came back to my garage, but I'm already on the road in the McLaren 675LT Spider Shmeemobile! After a long absence, a big journey to make up for it is coming, with the first leg consisting of a very late night blast to Germany against the clock and a late arrival. It's great to get the 675LT back on a tour!

With some complicated travel circumstances, it's going to be a long time on the road of at least a number of weeks if not months, and as such the other Shmeemobiles need to be packed up to be left for a long time, again. With the McLaren Senna and SLS AMG Black Series already in Germany, the M8 will also be coming out to join the 675LT, for 4 of the cars to be involved in the plans ahead.

However, a small problem with the M8 comes in the form of the stone chipping to the front end, and it's not pretty. Typically I have only done PPF on the more expensive cars, in fact from the AMG GT R and upwards, and never on a car of the value of the M8, however this might be the last time. The car has done approx 7,000km (4,500 miles) including some tours with Shmarc150, but the front end is already battered and bruised from chips to both the paint and the carbon fibre parts. Many comments had pointed out whether I was going to do it, and after the experience I'll certainly consider it more important on all cars in future, despite the front of the Heritage RS, Red RS, Supra, and other Shmeemobiles never getting more than a small one or two chips.

Before embarking, the first issue is to squeeze a lot of luggage into a not so practical car. Fortunately the 675LT allows you to independently open the tonneau cover for additional storage, helping to fit in enough luggage for a long period away. There's another thing that is long overdue though, after over 4 years, to remove the screen protector over the IRIS navigation system - something that we've joked about countless times but it is now finally peeled back!

With a departure from the UK as late as 7pm, it's a race against the clock to arrival in Germany before too late via what is now my 10th Eurotunnel crossing of the year, and the 9th Shmeemobile that's made the journey already. Fortunately things go well, it's an easy cruise, and into Aachen, Germany for about 3am ready for big things ahead!

Thanks for watching, Tim
