Just when I thought it was all going to plan...! It's a mandatory visit to the Nürburgring on the way to Italy with my Lamborghini Huracan STO, and that means a return to the Green Hell a year after it was banned the first time. Let's see if fortunes are slightly more on side this time around.

Our journey beings at The Shmuseum with a run over to the Eurotunnel, then through France, Belgium and into Germany. However, the primary objective of this adventure is to Rome for the start of the Lamborghini Giro, with the unfortunate news reaching us along the way that sadly it won't be going ahead due to the recent flooding and disaster that has affected the Emilia-Romagna region of Italy.

Having driven the STO Shmeemobile at the Green Hell for the first time around a year ago, I've been determined to give it another go and see if it somehow squeezes under the 130dB sound limit - having only been 1dB over last time out, which resulted in a day ban. We drove it the following day without issue off camera, so hoped all would be fine on a return visit to the Ring.

As we get under way, things seem to be going to plan and it's a mega first lap before returning to the paddock. Lap two is where it all goes downhill, very quickly. After being parked up for 15 minutes, we line up to go back out for another Touristenfahrten lap, before being quickly ejected for sound limits. Unlike last time, this year there was no evidence/documentation provided as to the reason, only told that it was 131dB again, over by exactly the same count.

Long story short, if you want to drive an STO on the Ring, you need to fit some sound mufflers to the exhaust or it'll be a one lap wonder!
