This is the brand new Lotus Emira and a very first look to check it out! Join me in the studio to take a full tour around the game changing sports car from the British marque and run through all of the details.

Following on the heels from the full EV hypercar, the Lotus Evija, the Emira brings a full update and replacement to the recent models; Elise, Exige and Evora. It also marks the start of a collaboration and technical partnership with AMG to offer the 2.0l turbo 4-cylinder in a mid-engine position, or alternatively available with the traditional Toyota 3.5l supercharged V6. The engines will offer between 360 and 400hp with a host of different gearboxes between them; manual, automatic and DCT, with 0-62mph (100km/h) taking less than 4.5 seconds and a top speed up to 180mph (290km/h), with a target lightest weight of only 1,405kg.

However, the most striking announcement is that prices start from £60,000 (€72,000) for a totally new sports car that carries serious supercar looks and visual drama. In fact, numerous of the design cues have filtered down from the flagship Evija, with a First Edition arriving with a loaded specification to begin the customer deliveries in Spring 2022.

Not only that, but the Emira brings a new generation of usability for Lotus, with ADAS functionality, large screens for the infotainment and dashboard, along with many comfort and convenience features that were often lacking in previous models. There's no question this is a huge leap forward, and at this price point it bodes very well for a promising future for Lotus cars.
