Exterior:
At first sight the new model shows a sportier, more dynamic and modern appearance than its predecessor, due to the new design language, using few but precise lines.
The headlights are now angled in design and lend the car a fresh and youthful feel. The optional full-LED lights cut a particularly modern figure.
A catching highlight is the growing double kidney.

Interior:
The new generation presents a new dashboard design and high quality materials. Also new is the optional BMW live cockpit professional with fully digital interconnected displays and BMW's operating system 7.0.
The new model comes with new features, like gesture control, intelligent personal assistant, and optional sunroof.

More than 1.3 million examples of the BMW 1 Series have been produced in its first two generations, the car proving especially popular in Europe. The third-generation model offers significantly more space than its predecessor with little change to its exterior footprint, thanks to the cutting-edge BMW front-wheel-drive architecture. Passengers in the rear are the main beneficiaries, while a larger load compartment also results.
